Resumen

Actualmente a nivel mundial, muchas naciones están prestando atención a mejorar y optimizar el uso de materiales reciclados en el sector constructivo.  El encarecimiento de las materias primas y el aumento de la conciencia ambiental han cobrado gran importancia a nivel mundial. En ingeniería de carreteras, se están utilizando materiales de desecho para el diseño y construcción de pavimentos. La ecología, la eficiencia energética, la rentabilidad y la reducción significativa del tiempo de construcción son los principales impulsores de esta propuesta. Sin embargo, aspectos sociales y de legislación han impedido que este tipo de procedimientos se implanten con éxito en la mayoría de los países en desarrollo. En el presente artículo se analizan algunas de las principales tendencias en el aprovechamiento de materiales de desecho para el diseño y construcción de pavimentos.
